Raksha Bandhan is a festival celebrating the bond of affection between brothers and sisters. Rakhi for many centuries has encompassed the warmth shared between the siblings.History has it that during the medevial era when the Rajputs were fighting the Muslim invade , Queen Karnawati the widow of the then King of Chittor realised that she could in no way defend the invasion of the Sultan of Gujarat,Bahadur Shah, she then sent a rakhi to Emperor Humayun. The Emperor touched by the gesture, accepted the rakhi thereby accepting Queen Karnawati as a "sister" and immediately started off with his vast troops to protect Queen Karnavati. Since then rakhi has been a symbol of love and protection for all.It is widely believed that due to our fast paced lives the relationship of siblings has gone through a change and they are no longer as close as they once were. Here is what our students say:My brothers are a bit irritating but the little things they do are very touching. They definitely will be my support in the long run. - Preetika Sihag IX
